Garlic

This medicinal herb is quite common and also cheap. Garlic has the capacity to lower cholesterol and blood pressure in a person. It can also help to thin the blood which can be both helpful and dangerous. Thinning of the blood affects clotting which is dangerous when a person undergoes an operation, dental procedures or gets wounded. Fresh garlic can be used as an antiseptic agent for shallow cuts, wounds and scrapes. The clove is pounded and then applied directly unto the wound for best effects.

Ginger

Some people consider ginger a spice but it can also be considered and herb. These medicinal herbs come in different types but have similar attributes. It is widely known that this medicinal herb can relieve nausea and motion sickness. Ginger is also said to help in treating afflictions of the throat like laryngitis or sore throat. Since it is wholly natural, pregnant women will benefit from this medicinal herb. Ginger root may not necessarily need to be ingested to relieve both nausea and throat ailments; one can just keep this medicinal herb in the mouth for better dissipation of the healing properties. Ginger is best used fresh or in tea form.

St John’s Wort

These medicinal herbs are supposed to be very good at relieving depression and other forms of anxiety. A lot of studies have been dedicated to these medicinal herbs and so far it has turned out quite promising. Both the flower and the leaves of this medicinal herb, St. John’s Wort can be used for treating depression.

Echinacea

This medicinal herb is commonly used to treat some respiratory ailments and for faster and more efficient healing of wounds. The leaves, stalk and roots of the plant are the parts used for medicinal purposes. Some people may be allergic to this medicinal herb. Those who are sensitive to plants belonging to the daisy family should avoid ingesting or using this medicinal plant. There are many different opinions regarding this herb and its effects.
